Fine Mauboussin 18K yellow gold and jadeite necklace descended from the estate of the great actor Edward G. Robinson and his wife Gladys Lloyd Robinson, circa 1930; this necklace passed directly from Gladys Robinson to the consignor's grandmother, then to her mother, and finally to the consignor; as a teenager the consignor visited her aunt on the Queen Elizabeth and was told that "the jade necklace was the first piece of real jewelry Eddie bought her when he made the movie "Little Caesar"; he purchased it in Paris while on their first trip to Europe; accompanying this lot are two photographs of Mr. and Mrs. Robinson, one of which shows Mrs. Robinson wearing this necklace at the premier of Little Cesar in 1931; the necklace consists of twelve jadeite cabochons, each approximately 15 x 11mm and a carved jadeite plaque, 1"sq, all set in 18K yellow gold, in Mauboussin Paris box, 19"l, approximately 1.4oz / 26 DWT TW. Provenance: MN estate.
