George Morland (b London 1763 –1804), Royal Academy student English school painter who was one of the most successful genre painters, known for his animals and rustic scenes, as well as his marine and landscape paintings. Painting and engraving are accompanied by 1960s Henri Tiercet Galleries Finder Form of Warranty with description of article.

BR>This painting is sold with a Color mezzotint print engraved by George Morland’s brother-in-law, William Ward for the H.R.H. Duke of York. Ward engraved a great number of Morland’s paintings reproducing in print Morland’s endearing paintings of English country life. Ward's engravings after Morland are some of the most beautiful prints of the period combining fine technical skill creating enduring images of the taste and beauty of the age.
