Autographed & Dated CDV of Gen. George Crook
Carte of Maj. Gen. George Crook '48, autographed beneath portrait and dated on verso, with Morse's Gallery of the Cumberland, Nashville, TN backmark. Crook rose to command a cavalry division in the west and later was put in charge of a department. The dashing officer earned five wartime brevets, adding to his reputation while serving on the frontier during the Indian Wars. Crook is best remembered as the adversary of Geronimo and his band of unconquered Apaches.
