William (Billy) Dixon, scout, plainsman, buffalo hunter, and Indian fighter, fought at the second battle of Adobe Walls in 1874, and later that year, enlisted as a scout by Nelson A. Miles, earned the Congressional Medal of honor in the Buffalo Wallow Fight against a large war party of Kiowa and Comanche Indians. Howes B134.
