Description
A lacquer five case Inro, c.1800, decorated in tones of gold lacquer and Kirigane, signed Kajikawa in gold, saku (made) and with red lacquer koro, minor chips, 9.5cm The Kajikawa family worked as lacquers in the late Edo period. For other inro by the family, see 'The Garrett Collection', Neil K Davey and Susan G Tripp, 1993, nos. 146, 147 and 148. The seal character on the koro may read ho (fragrance) - appropriate on an incense burner.
