Description
A blanc de Chine seated Figure of Guanyin, Qing dynasty, wearing a long flowing robe and a jewelled necklace, her right hand resting on her raised right knee, the back impressed with the mark He Chaozong yin and Dehua, 23.5cm For He family marks, see 'Blanc de Chine', P J Donnelly, 1969, p355 and 356. He makes plain (p270-276) that the Chaozong mark can also be that of a Kangxi potter and that the whole question of dating blanc de Chine is fraught with difficulties. For illustrations of figures with the mark, see figs. 143B, 144 A-C, 145 A-D, 146 A-E, 147 A-D, 148 A-B, 149 A-B, 150 A-D, 151 A-D, 152 A-E and 153 A-C. Formerly in a Dutch private collection. «»«»
