Description
A fine Maya cylinder from the Pacific slope of Guatemala, ca. 400 – 800 AD. This deeply carved vessel is 6 in high, 4 in in diameter and is decorated with two panels echoing geometric textile designs, surrounded by ribbed sections. The broad rim band consists of two interlocking linear designs mirroring ball court symbols. Intact, with highly burnished slip and good mineral deposits. Ex Tribal Treasures Gallery.
