Description
A pair of Chinese brass vessels. The first is a large cast brass Ting-shaped incense burner, China, early 20th Century, of typical style and appears unmarked, but there are six oval medallions, Dia: 3 in (7.6 cm), each containing a dragon, three to each side, with nice detail. Maximum width 9 1/8 in (23 cm), H: 6 1/8 in (16.5 cm). Substantial and well-used. The second is a large Chinese signed brass bowl, early 20th Century, not a typical ‘Lotus Bowl’ as it has three small conical feet. The decoration is strange - around the outside of the bowl are sea waves with small birds flying above them, inside, a mountain scene with a fisherman pulling a net from a boat in the foreground. A peak-roofed house is in the distance among trees. H: 2 ½ in (6.4 cm), Dia: 9 ¼ in (23.5 cm). Old, well-used and heavy! A curious piece! Ex Los Angeles private collection.
