Description
A Mexican wood mask of a man, early 20th Century, black, with red lips and black/white eyes. It is old and has definitely seen some use. Appears to be a 'Negro' from the 'Dance of the Blackmen', or variations on that theme which are performed in various parts of the country. L: 7 ¾ in (19.5 cm). Ex James Coburn collection, acquired over 50 years ago. Ex Los Angeles private collection.
