Description
The Beatles, Roy Orbison, and Gerry & the Pacemakers Tour Photo with Autographs (1963). It's no secret the Beatles were fans of American singer Roy Orbison. Roy was chosen, along with fellow Mersybeat band Gerry and the Pacemakers, to support the Beatles on their May/June, 1963 tour of Great Britain. Here's a great photo of Our Lads surrounded by members of the Pacemakers, with Gerry Marsden to the right of George Harrison, and Roy Orbison to the far right. The 10" x 9.5" image is matted with three autograph book pages to the right; the first signed by Orbison; the second, by all four Beatles, and the third by Gerry and bandmates Les Chadwick, Les Maguire, and Freddy Marsden. Along the left side is a printed article on Orbison, where he was quoted on his positive impressions of the Beatles and mention of John Lennon's obvious devotion to the American singer, including the story of how Lennon's "Please Please Me" was originally written similar to Orbison's style. The entire presentation is matted and framed with glass for an overall size of 32.5" x 25". Excellent condition. COA from Heritage Auctions.
