Description
Bob Dylan Carnegie Chapter Hall Concert Handbill (Folklore Center, 1961). This handbill, listed as the singer's "first concert in New York" (after low-key gigs at Greenwich Village coffeehouses like Cafe Wha? and an opening gig for John Lee Hooker) is for a solo Dylan performance, which only fifty-three people attended. The biography of Dylan inside is quite amazingly inaccurate; it was based on early interviews and starts out: "Bob Dylan was born in Duluth, Minnesota in 1941. He was raised in Gallup, N.M., and before he came to New York earlier this year, he lived in Iowa, South Dakota, North Dakota and Kansas. He started playing Carnivals at the age of fourteen, accompanying himself on guitar and piano..." This rare original 1961 four-page handbill is on the cover of a Folklore Center newsletter and measures 5.5" x 8.5". NM- condition.
