Item Details
Description
In 1919-1920 Hamley Saddlery in Pendleton, Oregon made a bronc contestant saddle which, at that time, became known as the Association saddle. The Saddle style; width of swells, height of the cantle, and cinch rigging, wasstandardized by members of a committee that established the specifications for the bronc contestant saddle. The association tree that was approved for the PRCA contestants leveled the competition. Prior contestants couldride any type of saddle. This Hamley saddle is stamped with the circle H Hamley Saddle logo. This piece is also believed to have been made by Jack Miller. Jack Miller was a saddle maker for Hamley’sduring the era of 1920-1930’s. The saddle shows overall great cared for condition, but slight wear across the pommel or swells. This saddle was made during the 1920’s. The piece is heavily carved with a floral tooledpattern showing wonderful craftsmanship. The rare saddle represents part of the history of contestant saddle bronc riding. This has a 12" seat.
