This is from DeVore’s Saddlery in Helena, Montana and was made by Jack Miller. Jack Miller’s early saddle making career included working for Hamley’s (Pendleton, Oregon), Garcia, and Visalia (California)- the topsaddle companies in the West. According to records at DeVore’s Saddlery this saddle was built in December 1963 by Jack Miller and sold to Dick Dorgmann, 301North Beattie, Helena, Montana. The price of the saddle at that time was $253.50. This information was supplied by Kent DeVore. The saddle was donated into Dale E. Moore’s collection by Dan Smelko for the MontanaSaddle School Collection. The saddle shows very impressive deep carved hand tooled floral design in excellent condition. This has a 13" seat. Make sure to look at all the detailed photographs to see the immaculatecondition and some of the finest carved tooling on a Montana saddle. This is from the Dale E.
