Description
The piece is a finely carved Black Forest hall tree with the very rare three mirrors across the top. The hall tree shows excellent condition and is believed to be from the third quarter of the 19th century (1800's).The carving shows a floral and leaf base having a beautiful bear climbing after the smaller cub perched on the top of the tree. Having three original beveled mirrors on this Black Forest hall tree is incredibly rareand not seen before. The top branches are in the shape of impressive stag horns with the beveled vanity style mirror placed under setting on two carved stag horn style hooks. The piece is believed to be a very desirableSwiss made carving with the artist being unknown, but very similar to the work of master carver Louis Meichtry Brienz. This Black Forest Lindenwood piece shows a stag horn framed mirrors and branches serving asgarment hooks. The piece measures 82” tall with the base measuring 18”x23.5”. The top branches are 31.75” across with the mirrors also stretching 28.5” across. The piece is screw together with period correct hard wear
