This exquisite sterling silver tea caddy was made in London in 1791 by Thomas Graham & Jacob Willis. The front shows an ornate cartouche with an engraved unicorn before an ermine background. On the back the reserve is left blank. The silver box is decorated with encircling bands of flowers and foliage along the upper and lower edge. The hinged lid is crowned by an ivory and silver knob.



The tea caddy is hallmarked with lion, date letter ‘q’ (1791), maker’s mark ‘TGIW’, duty mark and London city mark on the underside.



The box is in very good condition with only a couple of fine scratches. It measures 15 cm in height, the weight is approx. 387 grams. A key is not enclosed.
