These five apothecary jars date to the 19th century. The jars are made of turned light-colored wood and feature a smooth, cylindrical form. Some still contain their original filling. The original lettering indicates the contents: ‘PULV: CARDUI BEN’ (cnicus benedictus), ‘PULV: JALAPPAE:’ (jalapina), ‘PULV: ANISI STELLAT:’ (star anise), ‘ARCANUM DUPLICAT:’ (Kardiumsulfat) and ‘MUMIA’ (remedy from ground Egyptian animal mummies). ‘Mumia, made from animal mummies to which one attributed a special healing power, is very rare and sought-after today.
The jars are in good condition with signs of age and wear. There are small nicks, one jar shows loss of material. Each jar measures 14.5 cm in height.
