Description
A published and exceptional ocarina from Tairona, Colombia, AD 1000 - 1500, depicting a deity seated on a jaguar throne, wearing an elaborate headdress with feathers and ornaments, ear spools, multiple necklaces and collar and armlets. He sits on a throne with two exquisitely detailed jaguar heads, each decorated with incised lines and dots. A marvelous example which is published in The Shamanic World View Exhibit, Cantor Arts Center, Stanford University. 3 ¾ in x 3 ¼ in (9.5 x 8.3 cm). Intact. Mounted on a custom stand. Ex Midwest private collection.
