Item Details
Description
Extremely rare Leica M3 With very early screw mount 5 cm Summicron f/2 no. 921753 with bayonet adaptor.

LITERATURE Paul-Henry van Hasbroeck (ed.), Leica, a history illustrating every model and accessory, p. 154-156.

Approximately 65 units of the Leica M3 pre-series camera were produced for testing purposes in 1953, and only a very few have survived. There are quite some differences in design still from the first serial production M3s. Cameras Nos. 005, 0041, 0043 and 0056 are illustrated in Lager, Leica Illustrated History, Vol. I, p.173-175.
Extremely rare Leica M3 prototype camera in perfect working condition. All typical features (except a later rear door), including differently designed film advance lever, speed dial, self-timer, reversed direction rewind knob, external frame counter and release-button lockable at “B“. The camera is in fantastic, almost mint condition – original top and bottom plate were previously re-chromed. This is a rare opportunity to acquire one of the most important cameras in the history of the Leica M.
