Literature James L. Lager (ed.), Leica Illustrated History, Vol. I, 1993, p. 180, 231, 245 and 274.

Leica cutaway models were used for demonstration purposes at the “Leica School” in Wetzlar, particularly for dealer education. Apart from a small number of custom-made conversions, original Leica cutaway models were made by Leitz. Usually they could perform all basic functions of shutter and winding as well as the finder system, which could be viewed especially well because of the skeletonized outer parts. The effort involved in preparing such cutaway models was immense. This is why only a few cutaway versions were made for individual Leica models. Original Leica cutaway models are extremely decorative and sought-after collectibles today.
