the movement by Erard, veneered in amaranth, sycamore, and fruit wood marquetry and opening to reveal a birds eye maple-veneered interior, inscribed Par Brevet d' Invention Seb. & Pre Erard 13 & 21 rue du Mail Paris, stenciled number 84325 for the serial number movement, the keyboard lid signed in brass inlaid cursive letters Erard/Paris, all gilt bronze mounts with mercurial gilding and two toned burnishing, one lion head-cast chute has been removed to reveal the mark ZN from the bronze master model. Height 3 ft. 5 in.; Length 7 ft. 6 in,. Depth 5 ft. 2 in

The offered 19th century magnificent grand piano, one of only a handful manufactured in the 19th century takes inspiration in form and detail from the Bureau de Roi, made for Louis XV, the King of France, presently in the Wallace Collection, London. This mechanical roll top desk was recognized throughout Europe in the 18th century and throughout the 19th century for it's inventiveness. The desk was begun in 1760 by Jean-Francois Oeben, but it was not completed until 1769 when Oeben's successor Jean Henri Rieser delivered the dersk to the King at Versailles.

CONDITION IS EXCELLENT. The piano sounds good, Soundboard is fine. (if shipped the piano will need to be tuned properly.)
