AN EXTENSIVE THREE HUNDRED AND SIXTY ONE PIECE SERVICE IN THE OLYMPIAN PATTERN,
designed by Edward C. Moore, 1878-1879, comprising; 24 of each of the following, lunch forks, tablespoons, iced teaspoons, bouillon spoons, fish knives, steak knives and butter knives; with 13 salad forks, 12 dinner forks, 23 fish forks, 14 dessert forks, 6 meat forks, 23 oyster forks, 30 teaspoons, 10 soup spoons, 7 coffee spoons, 3 ice cream spoons, 21 dinner forks, 19 lunch knives, 4 large spoons, 2 gravy spoons, a pastry server, a pair of salad servers, 2 ladles and a pair of tongs. CF. In 1878 Edward C. Moore filed a patent for silver flatware designs that were unlike any previously designed by him for Tiffany or by Tiffany’s competitors. Rendered in the popular Beaux-Arts style of the time, named the Olympian, scenes represented stories from classical mythology. The design was premiered on a flatware service at the Paris Exposition Universelle of 1879. Moore’s design was unique in that it incorporated multi–figures and called for 17 variations to the handle design.
