This lot comprises an original wooden case with one bottle of 1959 vintage Blandy’s Bual. This wine from Madeira was aged in American oak for 35 years, before it was bottled in 1994.
Wine production on Madeira is largely exposed to its humid subtropical climate and is only possible in the higher mountain regions. Here, the vineyards are situated over 1800 metres above sea level. It is here that the grapes for a truly classic wine, the Madeira, are grown. During the production of the wine, the fermenting juices are stopped with a strong brandy, similarly to how port is produced. A part of the wine’s natural sweetness remains intact as it does not continue to ferment. The Madeira requires additional maturation in order to attain a balanced flavor and develop its typical oxydative mature qualities. A huge range of wines of varying quality are available on the market. The finest Madeira wines are sometimes matured in wooden barrels over many decades, under the wooden roofs of the lodges. This exposes them to both the heat and cold, contributing to the wine’s maturing process and the formation of its aroma.
The fill level is excellent (high fill). The label, original document and original wooden case are soiled. The capsule is in perfect condition.
