Condition
The subjects of these very rare notebooks are various, from portraits to nudes, landscapes to ornate designs, confirming the range of the original and multi-faceted personality of Baccarini, with a poetic touch that sets him apart from naturalism to symbolism, from the pointillist calligraphy sign of Art Nouveau. Note the ciew of via G. Castellani in Faenza, the Fossatone canal, the beaches of the Adriatic, the studies of flowers and foliage, and two draft covers of the book of poems titled Flores, a drawing outlined in contrast to the work Sensazioni dell'anima, which has preporatory drawings for woodcuts and for his own bookplate, from which he attained also the woodcut Nudino alla ballaustra. “Nei primi mesi del 1903 Domenico abbandona con grande amarezza definitivamente Firenze e ritorna a Faenza, dove lavorerà alacremente, intensificando il proprio impegno nella scultura, pittura ad olio, pastello incisione all’acquaforte e nella tecnica xilografica.” S. Dirani, Domenico Baccarini. I taccuini 1902-1903, Faenza 2007, p. 16. The notebook is displayed therein and described in full on pages 18, 24, 30, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 36, 37, 39, 40, 41, 42, 43, 45, 47, 48, 49, 50, 51, 52, 53, 54, 55, 64, 68, 69, 73, 74, 75, 76, 77, 78, 79, 80, 81, 97.
