Document signed by the inventor of the Telephone reflecting his true interests in helping and teaching the deaf. Also includes two booklets, the first, by A.G. Bell, "On the Nature and Uses of Visible Speech," 8 pp., Boston: Rand, Avery & Co., 1872; the second, "Fifth Annual Report, Part Second, of the Clarke Institution for Deaf Mutes, at Northampton, Mass..., 37 pp., Northampton: Trumbull & Gere, 1872. Alsto, two pages of manuscript questions for the examination held July 8th, 1876, for the Senior Class for Articulation Teachers at Boston University.

The certificate has a partial erasure to Abby Stone's name, causing a small hole atthe center of the paper; Bell's signature is not affected, and is clear and strong.
