Description
Elvis Presley Memorabilia, c. 1956
The King of Rock & Roll had an unprecedented level of popularity; in the words of John Lennon, "Before Elvis, there was nothing." Elvis is often remembered as having two distinct phases to his career, the early, hip shaking, slim and trim Elvis, and the later, glitzy, Aloha from Hawaii Elvis. These items date to the younger years - the Elvis that first shook the world.
- This 1956 Elvis Presley Souvenir Photo Album, priced originally at 50 cents, features a color photo of the young heartthrob on the cover and a series of approximately ten black and white headshots of Elvis on the inside. Also included is a short bio with "vital statistics." Album is in very good condition; small nicks appear on the front cover. 11 x 8 1/2
- An original "Love Me Tender" song folio in a display case along with black and white newspaper images of Elvis on the go. Song folio is printed in bright pink and features a young Elvis sporting suit and tie on the cover, and includes words and music for "Love Me Tender," "Poor Boy," "We're Gonna Move," and "Let Me." The 1956 Hal Wallis picture of the same name was Elvis' first foray into the movies. Folio and pictures are matted with an oatmeal -colored background and framed in black. Folio shows signs of fading as befits its age; it is taped in upper left corner and shows signs of minor creasing from handling. Folio: 11 x 8 1/2, Frame: 24 1/2 x 32
