We are exceptionally pleased to present this Rare & stunning 1898-1903 Reinhold Schlegelmilch large RS Steeple mold #22, hand painted integral handled cake plate. This Rare Tillowitz factory example is finished in the scarce Steeple mold that Ms. Gaston would refer to as an irregular pattern, due to the single flower and opposing leaves, with a unique pointed & smooth alternating rim design. The artistry is wonderful, as is expected from all Reinhold Schlegelmilch antique items. Examples of this pattern are very difficult to find, but an exact mold match can be found on Page #36 / Plate 84 of The Collectors Encyclopedia of R.S. Prussia (4th Series) / by Mary Frank Gaston, 1995 / 1998. Our spectacular plate is 10.25 inches in diameter and weighs 1# 2 oz. The RS Steeple molds & logo were first seen in 1895, but the church base stamp wasn't actually trademarked in Germany until 1898. The mark notes the addition of the Tillowitz factory by the initials S and T. The marks in green, blue, and red with Germany were used from 1899 up to about 1904, when the Prussia was added, and saw use until 1914 or 1915 (depending upon the source). We have co-related the original Steeple molds with those carried over to the Prussia designation, and can find no evidence that our #22 mold ever survived 1903.
