We are very pleased to present this stunning large 1973-1976 Fenton cased glass, pink satin over opal glass basket. Our exceptional example features the scarce Poppy pattern exterior, and the mold is very well defined. The pink satin overlay is considered as a scarce color, and carries the proper black & gold glassworker label, confirming the dates. A very interesting feature of this tall basket is the use of the unique Fenton pre-1960 nicked (crimped) handle. Only a very few specials were finished that way after 1959. This basket weighs 1# 4 oz. stands 7.5 inches wide x 9.5 inches tall, and is in VG to excellent condition, with 1 small handle smudge, and a couple spots of detritus. For Fenton collectors, this patter was originally made by Imperial Glass of Bellaire, Ohio in a tall Poppy show vase. Fenton was so enamored of the pattern, that they produced it in lamp shades, vases and in great baskets including Satin Overlays, regular Satin, Burmese, and eventually in Dusty Rose Overlay.
