Description
We are very pleased to offer this lovely pair of Fenton blue Opalescent glass Hobnail footed, double crimped vases. The taller vase measures 5.25 x 5.25 x 5.5 inches tall, constituting Ware # 3856-BO, produced from 1940-1955. The smaller vase measures 3.75 x 3.5 x 3.75 tall, constituting Ware # 3952-BO, produced from 1948-1955. We also offer a nice pair of crystal pedestal candle holders featuring wide star bases, and flared deep cup designs. These measure 3.5 x 3.5 x 5.75 inches tall, and all the items weigh 2# 4 oz. xxxxxxxxxxxxx. The first hobnail item made by Fenton Art Glass was in 1935, and constituted a French opalescent lamp font. 1936 to 1938 saw the first real production of hobnail pieces in the form of the first L.G. Wright contract Rare (6) part mold full size barber bottles, and examples with the abbreviated three ring necks, were sold to Wrigley of Chicago in 1938, along with puff boxes, all topped with wooden lids. Between 1938 & 1980, Hobnail patterns were collected with genuine fervor, with Fenton producing no less than 49 separate colors of hobnail glass, some supplied for decades and others for short stretches of years. Colors of glass and Scarcity provide a wide range of values, and collectors interest for Fenton hobnail items.
