Description
The Jacksons, or The Jackson 5, were one of the most popular groups of the 70s, selling more than 100 million records. By 1984, the band's future was in question, especially in light of frontman Michael having released as a solo artist the massively popular Thriller album, which would go on to become the best-selling original album of all time. But their 1984 Victory Tour tour reunited all the Jackson brothers for one final last hurrah. It started July 6, 1984 and ended December 9, 1984 and included 55 concerts, seen by about 2 million fans in the U.S. and Canada. It was the biggest tour any group had ever had at the time. During the last show of the Victory tour, at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, Michael announced his split from The Jacksons.
This matte black baseball jacket was a stage costume from the tour, designed to light up through the electric wires sewn into the lining. Three stripes of red tubing adorn each shoulder and the back, presumably the parts that light up. On one side, the front is embroidered in white with "Jacksons Victory Tour" and the Victory Tour logo of a hand holding a torch. The other side is embroidered in white with "Yamaha Artist" and Japanese lettering, above which is simply the name "Gregg," a reference to band guitarist Gregg Wright. The back is embroidered with "The Jacksons' Victory Tour '84" in white letters. The jacket has both a zipper and snaps. Length: 31
