First quarter 20th century, stamped ''Made in England'', comprising two armchairs and eight side chairs designed after 18th century Irish models, each chair back of serpentine outline with a baluster-form form splat crested by a scroll and flanked by further scrolls, joined to an eared inset leather-covered seat, the seat rail centering a shell clasp, raised on shell-headed cabriole legs with pad feet, each armchair with serpentine arms terminating in scrolls; 10 pcs, the armchairs 43'' H x 26.5'' W x 23.5'' D; the side chairs 42.25'' H x 22.5'' W x 21.5'' D, est: $1000/2000

Overall good condition. Structurally sound. General marks, scratches, minor abrasions and wear commensurate with age and use. A few very minor chipped losses. Some with sun fading to timber. Several side chairs with patches of spotty discoloration and roughness to finish, probably sun damage, localized to rear legs. Rear stretcher of one armchair detached at one end with a break to timber. Two side chairs each with a 2''-long tight stable crack to splat extending through from front to back. Three side chairs with newer replaced leather in good condition. The remaining chairs with cracks and wear to leather. One with a hole to leather.
