QUARTZ WITH ANATASE ON LIGHT BASE
Brazil
A dramatic natural sculpture, this is a remarkable single specimen of fine Brazilian quartz tinged with a ferric orange and remarkably included with the distinct bluish crystal anatase, a form of titanium dioxide. One side has been left attractively rough, aesthetically dotted with rust-brown matrix rock, whilst the other face has been brought to a gleaming polished finish to create a window into the beautifully clear interior, dramatically lined with unusual slender forms of stalactitic growth projecting inwards towards the center. A highly aesthetic piece, it measures approximately 11 x 9 x 9 inches and weighs 42 lb, brought dramatically to life by a light fixture set into the irregular pentagonal-section marble base.
