Good condition
These apothecary jars date to the 19th century. They are made of porcelain that is white glazed, polychrome painted and with gold rims. Each of the jars depicts the subject of a jungle with a palm that a gold snake is winding around and a column to the left. The rod, entwined with a snake, is the symbol of the medical and pharmaceutical status. The jars feature a smooth, cylindrical form with pointed lid and knob. Each pot bears an original label lettered in black with the respective contents: ‘ARG: BRACTAT.’, ‘TUB: CAO: BI:’ and ‘NATR: SULPHUR’.
The jars are in good condition with signs of age and wear. Slight gold abrasion is visible. One of the jars was broken and is glued. Each jar is 25 cm in height. (tm)
