This baroque bell was manufactured by the bell founder Arnoldt Kleiman, who is primarily known for his large church bell in the Stralsund Jakobi Church; a very special collector's item!
The bell was casted by Lübeck bell founder Arnoldt Kleinman in 1689. It is made of bronze. Its profiled body (probably French shape) is decorated on the waist with a mirrored monogram of the prince-bishop of Lübeck August Friedrich von Schleswig-Holstein-Gottorf (1666-1705) ‘AF’ with crown and palm leaf and a seraphim frieze. This small bell, indeed is an interesting collector's item. Bells from this period are rarely offered on the market. This very special piece probably hung in a chapel in Schleswig-Holstein.
The bell is inscribed and dated ‘ARNOLDT KLEIMAN ME FECIT LVBECK ANNO 1689’. Its height is 29 cm (36 cm including crown), its diameter is ca. 40.5 cm and its weight is ca. 36 kg. The original crown is missing and has been replaced by a new iron eye in later times. The clapper is missing. The bell is in age-related condition with traces of age and wear. Especially on the inside it shows a nice green patina.
