Description
Cambodia, Ca 12th to 13th centuries CE. One of the finest of the type we have handled or seen! Bronze Palanquin hook, used by sliding over a long pole and suspending a hammock which was carried by two stout men. This fine example is one of the more ornate we have seen. Decorated with a Naga, or snake deity, and the mythical bird Garuda. 7" H.
Provenance: Ex-D. Smith collection acquired in the 1980's.
