Description
Following on from the enormous success of the Lotus Cortina MK1, Ford introduced the Lotus Cortina MkII in 1967 with the famous Lotus 1600 twin cam engine now giving 109bhp. Externally all the cars had a black front grill, 5.5J x 13 steel wheels and Lotus badges on both rear wings and by the rear numberplate. The gearbox ratios remained to 2000E spec, but the final drive was shortened to 3.77 to 1 from 3.9 to 1 and comfort and handling improvements were made with a larger fuel tank and radial tyres.
This lovely Lotus Cortina MkII offered here was fully restored 5 Years ago and has covered just 800 miles since the complete rebuild. In an effort to retain the originality of the car it was stripped and repaired where needed and the original interior was cleaned and fitted back in to the car.
The engine and running gear were checked and rebuilt with the addition of new parts being added only where necessary. The result of this sympathetic restoration is a car that present well with a lovely original feel and patina.
Presented with a history file that includes various receipts for the work along with its original buff logbook that shows just 2 owners up until 1975. As far as we can ascertain the car seems to have had just 6 owners in total.
In all this is a great looking, useable car that benefits from the detailed work undertaken meaning it can now be enjoyed for many worry free miles to come.
