Description
The second generation Maserati Ghibli was introduced in 1992 until 1997. The Ghibli II featured updated Maserati Bi-turbo engines; a 2.0 liter V6 and a 2.8 liter V6.The car was revamped in 1994. The Ghibli II received an updated interior; new wheels, newly added ABS brakes and a fully adjustable electronic suspension. In 1996 other revisions were featured and included new spoked 17' wheels along with suspension and transmission modifications. The Ghibli II was built for both luxury and performance, and showcased a Connolly Leather interior with burl elm trim. With a top speed of 155 mph, the Ghibli II could achieve 0-60 mph in barely 5.7 seconds. It formed the basis of a GT racer and special editions and as such are highly sought after today.
Finished in Verde Opale with contrasting Pelle Verde interior, we are informed that this particular limited edition model Ghibli GT is one of 212 that were ever built. All exterior paintwork is superb with excellent panel fit throughout. The mileage of just under 71000 miles is reported to be genuine and is supported by both MOT history and the comprehensive service history, which is made up of both main dealer and independent specialist. We are told the all important cam belt service was only done in 2013 and as such provides peace of mind for any prospective buyer, its annual service and MOT was completed in January of this year. All service documentation and paperwork is complete and comes in the original Alacantra document wallet.
In action this Ghibli is both pussycat and tiger. Its content to waft around with a low burble, but all it takes a prod of the accelerator to unleash its more animalistic nature. The vendor informs us that instant enthusiasm denotes an engine and transmission in fine health, the power steering and brakes all behave as they should, the former being nicely weighted, the latter being very sharp and bringing this Ghibli to a quick halt.
This particular Ghibli GT is a tale of two characters. On the one hand, it's a blunt uncompromising instrument of styling and immense power. But its also a luxurious and pampering sophisticate with masses of charisma, we suspect this could turn out to be a shrewd buy for the future.
