Interesting crossover of two contemporary artist from Austria combining light art by Christoph Luckeneder and sculpture by Manfred Kielnhofer!
The darkness is the central element of the present light object. We see a cross of white light, with a hooded figure seated atop. The surface of the cross is covered with "spikes" of cable ties which have the effect of dissolving the outlines of the cross. Our present light object is titled "T-Guardian" and combines familiar works of the well-known artists Christoph Luckeneder and Manfred Kielnhofer. Kielnhofer is known for his various depictions of the “Timeguard” figures. Luckeneder is known for his series of “Light Cactuses” that are made of steel grids, plastic loops and a special LED-technique. The present object was part of a big installation in public space that was first presented in summer 2013, on the occasion of the Venice Biennale. Hundreds of "T-Guardian" figures were therefore spread all over the exhibition areas of the Biennale.
The light object is in a very good overall condition with minimal traces of wear on the surface of the red figure. The LED-technique functions perfectly well (without any guarantee). Inside the plastic guardian, there are the signature and the date "Kielnhofer 2012", as well as the number "18/50". It measures c. 93 cm in height, 67 cm in width and 36 cm in depth. The red Guardian figure measures around 54 cm in height.
