ASSORTED PRESSED GLASS NOVELTY ITEMS, LOT OF FOUR, including a colorless boat-form inkwell marked "PAT'D AUG. 9. 1870" on interior and a matching decorated opaque white boat-form container. Boat-form articles attributed to the New England Glass Co. Circa 1870-1910. 1 1/2" to 4 1/4" H.
Provenance: All except potty ex-collection of Dot and Ted Anthony.
Catalogue Note: Henry Whitney was granted a design patent (#4, 292) for this inkstand on August 9, 1870. Mr. Whitney, who held numerous other glass-related patents, resided in East Cambridge, MA and was an employee of the New England Glass Co.
