Mexican Maskmaker, [20th Century]. "Mexican Mask [Traditional - 0180]. An Archareo mask from the dance of the Moors and Christians, Pueblo Viejo, State of Guerrero [Mexico] mask from the Holy Week celebration, San Bartolo de los Baños, State of Guanajuato [Mexico]". Hand-carved, hand-painted polychromed natural hardwood sculpture. 1970s. A "danced" mask. Not made for the tourist trade or for sale, but created by the indigenous person to be used only in a ceremonial dance. Overall condition good. Provenance: From a highly important private collection, consisting of over 2,000 masks, Mexico City. Approx. 8in high, 7 1/2in wide, 6 in deep (200mm x 180mm x 150mm). KM Inv #MA0073.
