Description
Theodore Roosevelt: Mediator of Capital and Labor Cartoon Button. 1 1/4" cartoon button showing TR acting as a go-between or honest broker between labor and capital. It is titled "Equal Protection". Roosevelt was seen as an anti-trust politician who recognized the importance of big business. This button has a Whitehead & Hoag/Wabash Button Company of Chicago back paper. It comes in two versions: one with plain border and one with red, white and blue ribbon border (the more desirable of the two). This one has two very faint stains on the worker's chest and TR's shoulder. We sold an example in only slightly better condition in our sale #6032 (November 11, 2009) for $8,962. From the Warren G. Lee Collection.
