Rita starts her art studies under the tutelage of of maestro Luis Serrano en 1967, from 1976 a 1977 she studied with Eliot Carmichael. She studied in the prestigious academy of Lola Barra from 1982 to 1983. She studied under maestro Carlos Soto. She then went to Canada to study at the Ottawa School of The Arts under the direction of Morton Baslaw and lastly with Santiago Carbonell. Rita Amaya is a bold and innovative artist that paints in painstaking detail. Her colors are vibrant full of life and motion. She lives in Mexico City with her family.
