A gorgeous Maya Chiefs bowl from El Salvador, ca. 250 – 400 AD. This elaborately decorated example is 8-1/4 in in diameter and features 6 seated lords, each offering a blood sacrifice. The interior is decorated with six vultures arrayed around a central Lamat glyph symbolizing the eighth day of the ritual calendar, which is associated with the Heavenly Dragon.
