JOHN BULL SHELF CLOCK - Blinking Eye Novelty Clock, circa 1850s, depicting the English Squire prototype, in painted cast iron manufactured by Bradley & Hubbard of Meriden, CT, marked on underside "T. Kennedy, Patent Applied For, 1856". The 30 hour spring driven movement by Chauncey Jerome has the original paper dial, brass bezel and glass. Original eyes move up and down. 16 1/2" x 8 1/2" x 6". All original surface. Minor loss to paint, wear to paper dial. From the Ray Walker collection, his purchase in 1946. Documented by his close friend Brooks Palmer in his "Treasury of American Clocks".
