Artist: Farago, Geza. "Torley. Budapest-Budafok". Budapest, Kunossy, 1910's. Small size advertising slip. Advertisement, ephemera. One sheet, printed on one side. 6,7x13,2 cm. Small size advertising slip, version of a very famous poster by Farago. The poster was very popular in its time because of its humor and beauty. The sad and romantic dandy is smoking and drinking a bottle of champagne. He has flowers on the table, so maybe this was a date? The advertising slips were used as small sheets where the bill was counted. On the back side of this piece we see someone's list of spending, with the exact prices.Farago was one of the greatest masters of the early Hungarian poster art. He is the most important artist of the Art Nouveau style in Hungary, his well-known works combine the decorative fineness of “Secession” with exquisite humor and caricature.
