This painting in ink and paint on paper was created by the Chinese artist Wang Chunhua (born 1938). It is an album sheet, depicting Zhong Kui exorcising demons. Zhong Kui is a recurring figure in Chinese painting because according to Chinese myth he was a divinity. His purpose was to exorcise demons and to protect human beings. In the inscription Wang Chunhua writes that he has created the drawing after a Zing Kui painting by Fan Zeng. The artist Wang Chunhua was born on 1938 in India and lives today in the province Shanxi.



The work is signed, inscribed and bears three seals in red. The sheet is mounted on styrofoam and framed under a mat. The sheet is slightly creased because of the mount, and besides that are the frame and the work in good condition. The mat cutout is 51 x 46.5 cm in size and the total dimensions, including the frame, are 68.7 x 63.6 cm. (tm)
