History: Art of the Tin Toy Ltd is a company personally owned and run by David Pressland with the aim of advising, sourcing for and selling to private collectors and museums fine examples of tin toys and trains from their beginnings in the early 19th century up to their final swansong in the 1950’s and 1960’s.David Pressland first started collecting tin toys in the late 1950’s and early 1960’s whilst studying to be a veterinary surgeon at London University. David’s collecting continued for the next 30 years whilst working full time in his own central London small animal practice. During this time he wrote three standard works on Tin Toys all published by New Cavendish Books - ‘Art of the Tin Toy’ was first published in 1976, ‘The Book of Penny Toys’ in 1991 and ‘Pressland’s Great Book of Tin Toys’ in 1995.Having decided to take early retirement, David now concentrates on ‘the toy business’ and has a wide range of toys dating from 1830 to 1960 for sale.
