Description: This pin belonged to Evelina Hamilton and is an official pin of the Daughters of the American Revolution, completely surrounded by 13 diamonds. A single, larger diamond sits in the center of the wheel where all 13 spokes converge. The outside of the wheel is enameled blue with gold lettering spelling "Daughters of the American Revolution" around it. Behind the wheel itself is a white gold-on-silver image of flax. At the top of the pin is a gold loop so the pin may be worn as a medal attached to a ribbon.This particular pin belonged to Evelina Weed Hamilton, the youngest member of the Chicago Chapter of the DAR. She died April 17, 1894 at age 18 of a fever. She was the daughter of Eva J. Hamilton and the Granddaughter of Amelia Weed Hopkins, the latter of whom served in the Civil War with her husband, John Richards Hopkins on the Federal Army (Union). Amelia's grandfather was Smith Weed, who served in the American Revolutionary War as a Commisary from Connecticut. He died in Albany, New York at age 84.
