Description
19th century. Inkstand covered in tortoiseshell veneer with rolled handles on sides at ends of two matching glass inkwells with diamond motif banding and gilt bronzed lids with round finials above textured dome, curved recessed pen well at front and back. Inkwell raised on gilt metal acanthus leaf and lion's paw feet. Height 4.25", width 9.75", depth 5". Provenance: From a Private Collection in Rabun Gap, Georgia.
Condition
No damage or repairs noted. The two wells that hold that glass inkwells show wear. One glass inkwell has damage to the interior rim from the lid in the form of discoloration.
