Extensive index and list of paintings. Some of the artists represented include Joseph Cornell, John Piper, Raoul Hausmann, Hans (Jean) Arp, Braque, Picasso, Giacomo Balla, Lizlo Moholy-Nagy, Max Ernst, and Juan Gris. A remarkable combination of text and image portraying a significant shift in modern art.

This book was the first of what was to have been a two volume work - sadly the author died before completing the second volume. With rich material covering the 'classic age of collage,' prior to World War II with some material on the 1950's and 1960's. This volume was printed in 1968 where the editor's note mentions her death in 1971.

Inside: Excellent, near mint condition. The pages are white/bright with no tears, marks, dog-ears or fading. This was put away by a true collector--it looks like it was never paged through. Yellow covers: Excellent condition with a small bump in top right and bump on lower edge in back. Dust jacket: Has some sunning and scrunch on top right corner. Does not affect paperboards. Light shelf wear. No price indicated - no clipping.
