5th-3rd century BC. A very large squat blackware guttos with broad pedestal base, discoid body, loop handle and tall spout with concentric ribs to the mouth, central disc with finely modelled female mask (Aphrodite?) and luxuriant hair. 369 grams, 16cm (6 1/4"). From the estate of a North Country collector, acquired over a 30 year period from the early 1970s; formerly with Lodge Antiques, UK.
